RAF Snaith Museum is located at the former WAAF Site Number 1 in Pollington. It has been created by a group of volunteers as a place to remember and celebrate the lives of the men and women of 150 Squadron, 51 Squadron and the Women’s Land Army, who all served there between 1941 and 1949.
The museum is housed in the former WAAF Officer’s Mess and Quarters and showcases stories and artefacts from RAF, 4 Group Bomber Command and the Land Army. It stands as a memorial to the 205 airmen of 150 Squadron and 687 airmen of 51 Squadron, lost on active duty.

Great care has been taken to preserve as much of the original structure of the building as possible and recreate it as it would have once looked. Once used for rearing pigs, this was no mean feat! Exhibition spaces and research areas have been created, and bedrooms set up as they once looked, bringing the past to life. Artefacts have been donated from all round the world to help us tell the story of Bomber Command and RAF Snaith’s role within it.
Once the largest Women’s Land Army camp in Yorkshire, much has been done to tell the story of the women, many of whom moved hundreds of miles, to help with the war effort. Many women stayed and married local men, and it is a privilege to be able to tell their stories and welcome visiting family members.
First opened in 2023 the museum is going from strength to strength, quickly growing and constantly changing to add new displays for the public and schools to visit. With strong links to 51 Squadron, Bomber Command Museum of Canada, Pollington Airfield Memorial Garden, Pollington History Group, local schools and many other groups, the museum is becoming a popular place to visit and learn about local history. The museum is open on various weekends throughout the year and hosts several special events. See the Opening Times and Events sections for details. The museum is wheelchair and pushchair friendly.
Open every Sunday between Easter and Remembrance Day
